Access Control Installation for SEND School in St Helens
Bright Futures – Ash Meadow, Elm Fields Campus
Bright Futures – Ash Meadow, Elm Fields Campus
When Bright Futures redeveloped their Elm Fields Campus, they needed more than a standard security system.
This is a specialist SEND environment, where safeguarding, controlled movement and staff visibility are critical to how the site operates every day.
Redzvision Security was brought in to design and install an access control system that didn’t just secure the building — it supported the way the school actually works.
A system built around safeguarding, not just doors
In a setting like this, access control isn’t straightforward.
Different areas of the school require different levels of control. Staff need to move freely, visitors need to be managed, and certain spaces must remain restricted depending on the needs of the young people on site.
We designed a system that reflects that reality.
Some areas allow controlled entry with simple exit, while others require full staff-controlled access in and out. External entry is managed through automated gates and intercom, ensuring every visitor is accounted for before entering the site.
Everything is configured to give the school control, visibility and flexibility, without disrupting day-to-day operations.
Designed for real-world use
Behind the scenes, the system is powered by Paxton Net2 — but what matters is how it works in practice.
Staff can access the areas they need quickly and securely using fobs. Visitors are managed through a clear, controlled entry process. Sensitive areas are protected without feeling restrictive.
The entire site is managed from a central system, giving the team full control over access, permissions and activity across the building.
Ready for the moments that matter
Security in a school like this isn’t just about normal operation — it’s about how the site responds when it matters most.
The system is fully integrated with fire alarm procedures, ensuring doors respond correctly in an emergency. It also supports lockdown scenarios, allowing the school to act quickly to protect pupils, staff and visitors if needed.
This isn’t an add-on. It’s a critical part of how the system is designed.
Delivered properly, supported ongoing
The installation was completed over 10 days, with full testing and commissioning to ensure everything worked exactly as intended.
Since completion, the client has been so confident in both the system and the support provided that Redzvision Security has been instructed to roll out the same solution across a second campus.
Access control that actually works for your site
Most systems are installed based on doors and layouts.
We design them around people, behaviour and risk so they work properly in the environments they’re meant to protect.
If you’re responsible for a school, care setting or commercial site and need a system that does more than tick a box, we can help.
